About AltoVen line
AltoVen is containing a combination of 3 active ingredients.
- Diosmin it is a naturally occurring flavonoid glycoside that can be isolated from various plant sources or derived from the flavonoid hesperidin. It helps maintain a good venous blood circulation, it supports a normal venous function and the strength of blood vessels. The mechanisms of action include improvement of venous tone, increased lymphatic drainage, protection of capillary bed microcirculation, inhibition of inflammatory reactions and reduced capillary permeability.1,5,6
- Hesperidin is a bioflavonoid from citrus. Citrus bioflavonoids helps to maintain healthy venous circulation. Hesperidin inhibit an increase of capillary permeability, increase capillary resistance – due to inhibitory effect on the action of hyaluronidase enzyme, which is known to accentuate capillary permeability and fragility. Hesperidin has been reported to possess significant antiinflammatory effect – due to a mechanism involving an inhibition of eicosanoid synthesis and antioxidant free radical scavenger activity. 2,5,6
- Aescin belongs to saponines group and it helps to maintain healthy venous circulation in legs and helps to inhibit feeling of heavy legs. Aescin inhibits the activity of the enzyme elastase and hyaluronidase – these enzymes are involved in enzymatic proteoglycan degradation, which compromises part of the capillary endothelium and the extravascular matrix.3,4,6
- Comfrey extract is also helpful in treating varicose veins. Both oral and topical comfrey preparations have been used to treat varicose veins, but only the external remedy is recommended today. Because comfrey contains pyrrolizidine alkaloids that are toxic.
